Salmon and Avocado “Tartare”

This dish is great for breakfast, as a snack, light dinner or as a quick and easy eye catcher for when you have guests. It’s delicious, healthy, and light and filling at the same time. You can serve it as a little “tower”, in cocktail glasses or enjoy a large bowl before work. I got the recipe from a very dear friend of mine and it served us as comfort food during a tough time. Will never forget how we used a cut-out from a beer can to get it in shape, as we didn’t have anything else of the required size. 🙂 The original recipe is made with fresh (!), raw salmon, but it tastes just as good with its smoked counterpart – in fact, I used exactly that, as I had it handy at home.

Ingredients for 1 Person

  • 80g Smoked or Fresh Salmon
  • 1 Avocado
  • Juice of 1/2 Lemon
  • Small Handful of Chives
  • Cracked Pepper

Method

All you have to do, really, is cut the salmon into small bits, the avocado into little cubes and toss it all together in a bowl. Chop the chives coarsely, add them to the bowl. Sprinkle with the lemon juice and some cracked pepper, then mix it all well.
That’s it! You can serve it with knäckebröd on the side, use it as a topping for a nice sourdough toastie or just have toasted bread on the side. It even works all by itself. 🙂
